Tired of the Excuses For People Getting Used
I really am tired of people making excuses for people getting used or letting people who do so to get away with it.
I have mentioned my situation with Shawn Suleiman several times before but it’s not the only time I’ve been used in my life, I remember being used as a kid by my own family, supposed friends and just as recently again in the MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic.
As I mentioned in the linked forum post, I am deeply disturbed by how we are teaching children that it is okay to use people, making excuses and finding reasons to make such a wrong okay.
From my own personal experience, doing nothing and allowing those who do this disgusting thing, only leads to victim blaming, turning acts of kindness into the wrong, slander and normalization of such behavior. When you do nothing, let a person get away with their wrong, turn a blind eye to the wrong the person is doing, and they get no consequences for their actions, than you are complicit in their behavior and only empowering it.
As I also posted in my forum post, I find it disturbing for someone to say “I’m use to being used.” This should not be a norm. I question if a person has any self-respect if they normalize being used by getting use to it.
This is as bad as people saying let go and move on from the homophobic assaults LGBT+ endure. It’s just normalizing the behavior.
Where is the morality anymore?
