Taylor Swift Is Rightfully Getting Called Out Over Her Newest Album

Taylor Swift is rightfully getting called out by fans and non-fans alike over her most recent exploitation of her fans with her upcoming eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.

The reason for this is because fans are getting tired of Swift releasing multiple versions of her albums with no real track listing difference and releasing limited timed editions exclusively to her store that end up being released later on down the line, whether through digital download or exclusively to a US store. For example, with Midnights, Swift released four different album covers that formed a clock and had no differences in the track listing at all for a limited time only on her official store, only for her to later release all four versions to all stores while having a Lavender Edition with one new song and two remixes, and if that didn’t add insult to injury she also released a 3am edition of the album to digital and streaming services only, with seven additional songs that were not originally on the album and that she would later re-issue in a Til Dawn Edition with the Target exclusive track “Hits Different” and new mixes of “Snow on the Beach” and “Karma”. Then she also released The Late Night Edition of the album, exclusive at store venues during her US leg of The Eras Tour, after the first nine shows of the tour, denying fans who went to the first nine shows the opportunity to purchase it, with yet another exclusive song and only five of the seven 3am tracks and the new mixes of “Snow on the Beach” and “Karma”.

Then with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) she released four different covers exclusively to her online store, only to later reissue the same covers to Target with the only difference between the store and Target exclusives being the items gotten with the different covers, with the store exclusives having five different polaroid pictures and the Target versions of three of the covers having a different double sided poster of that contains hand written lyrics to different songs. Not only that but she denies fans “Sweeter Than Fiction (Taylor’s Version)” by releasing it only to Target on a vinyl record and then goes on to release two deluxe editions digitally only, one to streaming services and one for a limited time on her officially store both with the remix to “Bad Blood” featuring Kendrick Lamar and one with an acoustic version of “Slut!” added to it, denying fans to have these on any other format.

Now fans are getting tired of the different versions and being exploited as Swift has sunk to an all-time new low exploiting her fan base by now releasing different versions of The Tortured Poets Department each with the same sixteen tracks and a different bonus track, with many fans expressing being tired of the limited timing of these exclusives for them to only be released at some point later down the line whether digitally or exclusively to Target and asking her to go back to just doing a standard version of her album with a deluxe edition with the extra tracks.

And not only that but those who aren’t fans of Swift are also speaking out about Swift’s latest attempt at exploiting her fan base especially with her recently just last year becoming a billionaire and her fans spending enough as it is on her Eras Tour (which is still going) and merchandise and how it is a “money grab” doing multiple versions of the same album with only one track difference.

Swift really needs to listen to the rightful criticism of her fans and those who aren’t fans of her about her business practices and how it is exploitation of her fan base. The reason for such an uproar like this is over her doing this is because no one wants to see other artists seeing Swift doing this and think they can exploit their fan base in the same way because it works for Swift.

Let’s hope The Tortured Poets Department fails to top the Billboard 200 because that’s probably the only way Swift will listen to her fan base and go back to just doing a standard and a deluxe edition of her albums and not these limited timed different versions of her albums exclusively on her official store.
