Homophobia by Stereotyping

Something that has been bothering me is something people claim about gay men and friendships. A lot of people stereotype and act like two gay men cannot just be friends.

This is a stereotype both me and a friend of mine have gotten even though both of us have a mutual agreement that neither of us want a relationship, him for his reasons, me for the fact I am in love with Shawn and because if I do not end up with him I personal have no desire nor want to be with anyone other than Shawn.

This type of stereotyping is very homophobic, even if it is unintentional, because it plays into the whole gay men are nothing more than sexually promiscuous like Evangelicals claim. It’s as if people do not think it is possible for gay men to have a monogamous relationship or a friendship with each other and can only be sluts. It is insulting and homophobic.

People need to get out of such mindsets as it plays right into Evangelical homophobes’ hands and only hurts LGBT+s cause and makes them want to put the hammer down much more on us.
