And People Don’t Think Letting a Homophobe Appear Right Isn’t Dangerous?

So I posted this on Vent, I am hiding my username and the user who replied and please note how this homophobic person states that a homophobe is “bringing facts”. This is the kind of dangerous thinking I been warning about for over three years now. I always knew there were others who would agree with my mother’s husband and now I have the proof.

This is what we are allowing by doing nothing, letting them appear right and just ignoring them. They don’t need their victims to be empowered they just need other like-minded ignorant people. This is a dangerous precedents we are setting letting these people believe they are right and emboldening their ignorant beliefs with situations like mine.

I am really scared where we are heading as a country. We tolerate things we shouldn’t and do not shame those who do wrong like this. It matters not if a person is a politician or not, all homophobes should be held accountable and brought into the light for the safety of all LGBT+, they must be shown they are wrong.

We cannot stop people from having religious beliefs but we can sure as heck prove to them that homosexuality isn’t sinful as my mother’s husband and many others believe. They base their ignorance on a book as if it is fact. It falls onto us to prove them wrong cause continuing to live as a homosexual is not stopping homophobia. But encouraging their ignorant beliefs by ignoring them or allow them to appear right is not the way to handle this situation at all.
